1S3: Sunset on the Jinshanling–West Simatai Ridges

 If you have a limited time for your visit to the Great Wall, this one day hike will suit perfectly to your needs. Before the sunset, you will get some sightseeing in as the sun falls slowly overhead.

At Jinshanling, it presents some of the most beautiful views you will ever see, so imagine catching the sunset from here as well! This tour also includes a gourmet dinner, and as with all of our Great Wall hikes, you get your driver and English-speaking guide.

For you to catch the sunset, we'll be starting your tour later in the day. You will be picked up from your hotel between 10 (winter), and 11 a.m. (summer), and from there, we will drive out to the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall.  
 

The Jinshanling Great Wall possesses an excellent opportunity to take in some fabulous views. Make sure to take your camera. You will not be disappointed! This part of the Great Wall has not been repaired since 1570. It is very remote, and that's what makes it so unique and a great chance to experience.    
 

Continue through the Second Valley at West Simatai, where weathered Great Wall ruins reveal distinctive defensive barriers. Their position perpendicular to the parapets reflects the practical purpose of the mountain fortifications.

After climbing down the wall we will have dinner at a nearby guesthouse. The housewife here is going to serve you Kong Pao Chicken and many delicious dishes with the vegetables she plants naturally herself. 

You will be back at your hotel around 8 p.m. If you are catching a flight or train, we will send you to the airport or station with a modest fee.  
 

This tour can also be done in the style of self-guided. We will send you a private car and driver for the transfer. You will be given a map to guide yourself.
