A6: Walk from Gubeikou to Jinshanling with a Group

From 6 a.m., we will collect you if your hotel is within the 2nd Ring Road (Loop). Otherwise, please take a subway train to meet us at  Chaoyangmen Station Entry/Exit A of Subway Line 2 or 6. Our bus to Gubeikou will leave from there by 7:30 a.m. 

The drive takes approximately 2.5 hr drive to Gubeik Water Town. Our local guide will meet you at the Station and transfer you to the foot of the Great Wall to start your walk.

Gubeikou occupies a historically strategic mountain setting. More than 140 towers of different sizes and designs line its unrestored fortifications, with the Wall following the steep ridges above the town.

In 1933, the Chinese military combated versus Japanese intrusion soldiers in Gubeikou. In the four-month-long fights, over 5,000 Japanese soldiers were killed while 9,000 Chinese soldiers died. It was remarkable that the old Wall is not a relic but continued to be a field of battle in modern war.

Much of today’s Jinshanling route follows partly restored masonry, making the walking surface more even than on the wild sections. Watchtowers appear at intervals of roughly 100 meters, with some standing about 10 meters high.

For lunch, we'll take a short stroll down the Wall to eat at a farmer's dining house by Mr. Duan Jiujun. His household will make a tasty country-style dish for you. He will also welcome you to visit his mini picture gallery (he takes pictures of the Great Wall as a hobby) after you are full. Great Wall Adventure Club certifies Duan's dining house to be a trusted dining place that meets our requirements. 

Later, transfer to Gubei Water Town’s bus terminal and take the express bus to Dongzhimen Bus Terminal in Beijing.

This tour does NOT have a deadline of registration. If you sign up at the midnight, you are fine. Simply show up by 7:30 at Chaoyangmen Station and claim your booking with Great Wall Adventure Club to your guide James. James will report to our office about your participation.
