1D1: Cycle the Countryside and Walk the Lakeside Wall

Combine a countryside bicycle ride with hiking near Huanghuacheng and Xishuiyu. The cycling follows local roads, while the Great Wall portion is explored on foot.

Why biking at the Great Wall is worthwhile?

Take a comfortable and exhilarating bike ride through the Chinese countryside, with the Great Wall serving as the perfect backdrop.

The wall on this hike is made up of both restored and unrestored "Wild Wall", which allows you to compare and contrast the wall in a way that most people can't.

The "Wild Wall" section is almost devoid of tourists, allowing for a serene and intimate hike

This program is excellent for a family day out!

In-depth Itinerary

At 8:30 a.m., drive to Xishuiyu and explore its weathered Great Wall before continuing west toward the place where the Wall meets the water. Your bicycle ride begins on a quiet, tree-lined country road nearby; the Wall itself is explored on foot.

After that, we will pick you up and drive for about 20 minutes to have a gourmet Chinese country-style lunch at our approved Ancient Pass Restaurant.

The fantastic countryside of Huanghuacheng Great Wall is covered in a yellow mass of wildflowers in the summer, Also known as the 'Yellow Flower Town' of the Great Wall. This section of the Great Wall has no stone steps or a single smooth walkway, and it provides quite a challenge for its visitors. Another significant feature is the Lake that gives it that extra unique feel to your visit when hiking this beautiful section. In the distance, the Great Wall is winding, with peaks and greens, climbing between the long gray brick walls, exploring the quiet time, and enjoying the ancient charm.

You will arrive at your Beijing hotel at approximately 5 p.m.

Review from Lana

We just completed the Jiankou to Mutianyu hike with Aaron on Monday 15th of November and I wanted to say how wonderful the trip was - your sight mentions it will be the highlight of our staying China and it most certainly was.

It is a memory I will hold forever and while I found the hike challenging physically I cant imagine seeing the wall any other way. This 1 day hike was the only way to really see the wall.

Aaron was fantastic . very knowledge, friendly and his English was exceptional.

You really made our family trip once in a lifetime event - I will have no hesitation in recommending you to anybody.
